GNO Water Collaborative Working Group Meeting Dates & Hazard Mitigation Survey Link

Dear Water Collaborative Members:

With the Strategic Plan completed and released, we are moving forward on next steps.  We want to bring to your attention three items: 1) the next round of Working Group meetings, 2) the process for sitting the first official (not interim) Steering Committee and 3) the process by which New Orleans is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The schedule of Working Group meetings is below.  As the Strategic Plan notes, the Working Groups are where the work of the Water Collaborative really takes place. We hope you will be active in the Working Group that most closely aligns with your interests and expertise, but feel free also to participate in multiple groups.

  • K-12 Education: Monday, August 31 3-4:30pm, Keller Library. 
  • Research and Policy: Tuesday, September 1, 11am-12pm, Myrtle Banks (3rd Floor Conference Room)
  • Advocacy:  Wednesday, September 2, Noon - 1:00 PM, TBD Please contact Keith Twitchell directly for the location keithgct@aol.com
  • Community Education: Friday, September 4, 9:00-10:30am, Myrtle Banks (3rd Flood Conference Room)
  • Builders & Designers: Tuesday, September 8th, 4:00pm, Waggonner and Ball 

New Orleans is currently updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan, which will guide the City's strategy for reducing its risk from natural and man-made hazards for the next five years. Public participation is critical to the success of the planning process, and the City will be holding a series of meetings to gather public input.
